Social Science Work.

In this social science work I'm going to make an old Newspaper or News show:
Its objective is to create different products that could appear on a newspaper/news giving information about a person or event of the past, so I have decided to talk about:

Joanna, the mad.

images (1).jpg joanna.jpg

Joanna (6 November 1479 – 12 April 1555), known as Joanna the Mad, was queen of Castile from 1504 and of Aragon from 1516. From the union of these two crowns modern Spain evolved. Joanna married Philip the Handsome, who was crowned King of Castile in 1506. After Philip's death that same year, Joanna was dicovered that Joanna had a mental illness and was interneted in a convent for the rest of her life. Though she remained the legal queen of Castile throughout this time, her father, Ferdinand II of Aragon, was regent until his death, when she inherited his kingdom as well. From 1517, her son, Charles, ruled as king, while she was remained as co-monarch.

He was nicknamed " the Mad " by a supposed mental illness claimed by his father and his son to keep her away from the throne and imprisoned in Tordesillas for all her life. It has been written that the disease might have been caused by jealousy towards her husband and the pain he felt after his death.

Joanna's Interview.

Hello Joanna,
I wolud like to make you some questions about your life, do I can?

  • Me: Well, can you tell me your complete name?
Joanna: I was born in Madrigal de las Altas Torres.

  • Me: When were you born? Where?
Joanna: I was born the 6 November 1479, in the city of Toledo, located in Spain.

  • Me: Who did you married with? When?
Joanna: Well, I remember, I got married with my love Philip the Handsome in the year 1496.

  • Me: Did you love him or was only a .... marriage?
Joanna: Firstly, I wasn´t, the only reason I had for marring him was because my parrents told me to do it, as they wanted an Alliance with the Low Countries, Austria and the Holy Roman Empire. But finally, I fell in love with him.

  • Me: Did you had any sons?
Joanna: Yes, I did. I called them Eleanor, Isabella, Ferdinad, Mary, Catherine & Charles.

  • Me: When did your coronation took place?
Joanna: By the death of my brothers Juan and Isabel and my nephew Miguel, I became heir to the crowns of Castile and Aragon. The death of my mother, Isabel the Catholic, in 1504 was proclaimed Queen of Castile together with my husband; and my father, Fernando the Handsome, in 1516 happens to be nominally Queen of Navarre and sovereign of the Crown of Aragon. Therefore, the 25 of January 1516, I theoretically became the first Queen of Crowns that formed the current Spain; However, since 1506 my power was only nominal, because people thinks I had a mental illness, so I couldn't reign, as my son Carlos was the effective King of Castile and Aragon.

  • Me: OMG!! Have you said people thought you were crazy Joanna?
Joanna: Yes, I have. They thought and continue thinking a was crazy, isn't it amazing? Hehehe

Well, this is the end of your interview, so thank you so much Joanna. See you soon.
